Sustainability

We work actively to ensure that environmental awareness and sustainable development are integrated throughout  Swedish Biodiversity Symposium. Our meeting partner, Academic Meetings, is part of the University of Gothenburg and is certified according to the international standard for environmental management ISO 14001 and registered under the equivalent to the EU’s EMAS.

All meals served during the Swedish Biodiversity Symposium are vegetarian. Lunch and coffee breaks are prepared at the Wallenberg Conference Centre, where the caterer, JD Restauranger, is KRAV-certified. Coffee, tea, and bananas are always both organic and Fairtrade.

The lunch menu is developed in close dialogue with the kitchen’s suppliers to minimize waste and make use of available ingredients, which means that menu adjustments are often made up until the last moment.

Accessibility

The main entrances to the Wallenberg Conference Centre are accessible for wheelchair users. The ground surface in front of the main entrances is paved and the slope is adapted for individuals with reduced mobility. Next to the revolving doors, there is a door equipped with an automatic door opener. Parking spaces for people with disabilities are available within 25 meters of the main entrance.

There are a total of three (3) passenger elevators in the building, all providing access to every floor. The clear width of doorways is at least 84 cm. Accessible restrooms (RWC) are available in the building.

A hearing loop system for the hearing impaired is installed in the front half of Wallenbergsalen as well as in the room Europa.
