The Swedish Biodiversity Symposium, in collaboration with the Hasselblad Foundation, proudly announces the Call for Art contribution to the Swedish Biodiversity Symposium 2025.
The Swedish Biodiversity Symposium is a science-policy interface-oriented forum for communication, dissemination, and discussion of science-based knowledge on biodiversity. It provides an opportunity to gain new perspectives, learn from each other, and engage in networking and collaboration. The symposium's main theme is Transformative change – from knowledge to action. This broad theme allows for deeper discussion from many perspectives: conservation, evolution, policy-making, species loss, ecosystem services/nature’s contribution to people, nature-based solutions, restoration measures, psychology, climate, land use, health, economic incentives, food security, pollution and more.
We now invite applications from artists to join in to inspire, be inspired by and contribute to the Swedish Biodiversity Symposium 2025. We refer to artists in a broad sense, spanning from classical painters to contemporary art, performance art, photography, literature, lyrics, music, etc.
We seek 2 to 3 artists to join in the event where we will cover the participation fee (including entrance fee, lunches, coffee/fika, entrance to ice breaker event and conference dinner). We will also provide space for an exhibition area if required (the typical size is a three m2 area with a 1.6 m2 table, but depending on needs and form of art, other arrangements can be made). Depending on interest, the artists can also be involved in panel discussions and/or be given the opportunity to perform during the event.
The application should be sent to SBS2025@gu.se before 12 August and include a one-page motivation letter and description of artistic contribution to the event, and a two-page CV. Mark the e-mail Call for Art.
With best regards,
The organising committee
